THE LITERARY RARISMO CARLOS MORALES EDMUNDO DE ORY FOR MEDAL OF ATENEO

Carlos Edmundo de Ory

occasion of the death of Carlos Edmundo de Ory and as a tribute to the great writer I wanted to reflect on his work.

in Spain are not allowed rare. Or do what everyone does or does not enter the game stage. His absence away from Spain he also created a phantasmagoria of dramatic and a scenario is hardly conducive to social consideration in an era when everything invested sounded weird or crazy, far from the spirit of the Movement, the Youth Front and Elan militaristic and authoritarian society invading English. In fact, according to Arias Salgado, CEO of Information and Tourism, had received "letters of bishops and outraged parents, who branded the filopostistas of homosexuals, communists and extravagant. When no Russophile and frentepopulacheros, or were screaming that "lead to jail, insane asylum or the gallows." Even Eugenio d'Ors went on to say that the Postismo was an artistic movement that was known in Cadiz.
Carlos was a free spirit and just outside of Spain could exercise that office so rare and so worthy of freedom in times of dictatorship.
Born under the sign of Taurus in a time when Primo de Rivera descends into the underworld of the military dictatorship, Ory known after bloody riots of a Republic he was not allowed to grow and reach a tiny child. Then came the swastikas stepping on European soil and the whole world went to hell. Carlos was twenty years during the world war. Enough to become aware of the lack of realism. And he wanted to take other routes, thinking there was life on other planets literary, follow the trail they had opened with success the early twentieth century avant-garde and being himself in itself a vanguard: Postismo.
a rarity after the steamroller that is worth to exercise realism back in the fifties, associated with social criticism and the struggle against the dictatorship when not in Europe, the triumph of Sartre and Camusian ... Everything will come. His free spirit, outside mainstream schools, however, was a different course. Always a minority, always unique. Ory understand, much earlier than May 68, that the only way to fight was with the imagination and the proposed new literary. Remain untouched by the dogmas and social opinions and become a ism. There were two great spirits foreign to the imposition of the reality of time: one was the Group Song, wrote that from Córdoba extraordinary literary history. Only a few years rising from its own ashes, and finally had the consideration and historical significance at the time no one recognized. It took half a century it was claimed. And curiously a connecting element between the two, between the Postismo and Song Group, came from the hand of the painter Gines Liebana, who was a close friend of Ory, who will have a remarkable correspondence between 1967 and 1969. And so, in a letter dated August 28, 1967 Gines Liebana she tells about his novel Diary of a Madman: "I'm happy! I am my show forever. I can think of things worthy of observation, my anxieties are the swing the most beautiful demons. I am writing my novel again black teens. I found a style plasma tense and vibrant as the music of evil and the pure womb of a virgin. " The great movement
irresolute and outside Garcilaso outdated and singing virgin spring faces the sun, was the Postismo and Carlos Edmundo de Ory, an infidel, an innovator. A movement that wanted to be the quintessential literary movement. The movement of movements. This was tried in the Manifesto which appeared in La Estafeta Literaria in 1946. Signed by Ory, Son and the Florentine Chicharro Sernesi. A magazine Postismo continue the blowgun which will take a number. In this aesthetic movement would join then other writers such as Francisco Nieva, Ángel Crespo and Fernando Arrabal. But they were grown either. And by then the creative freedom was not in vogue, only literary methods and leaderships. Did not admit or new states of mind, ways of being or new aspects of nature and art, as he said Carriedo, scenic or recreational games, or a renewed greguería language, not a surrealist humor, and kindness to the imagination and the literary nonsense. But neither was allowed something to contribute in an essential way the Postismo: the study of language and the mechanisms it has for maximum expressiveness, one of the essential tools of literary. The writers were not reducible postista and paid for it with oblivion.
While at other times have claimed pure realists, however, the unclean, the rare, the states have followed their bloody night. They came to call them witches of the word. Reborn from its ashes. They were fallen angels who were betting on the resolution of squaring the language through the imagination. Ory defined it as "madness invented", and it was the oven buns. Ory

drop out in the Nautical School at the beginning of civil war and in 1940 wrote his first poems, Shadows and birds (1940) and Bitter Lyrics (1942). In 1945 he published a selection of poems, Verses soon and the legs of the shadow with Eduardo Chicharro. His father, Eduardo de Ory Modernist, "the only poet who had in the world," confessed Carlos, a friend of Juan Ramón Jiménez and Rubén Darío, is their spiritual guide. In Paris, his father had published in the prestigious Golden Butterfly editorial Garnier Light and Soul, becoming an active publisher of modernism and the author of fourteen books of poetry, prose and six eight anthologies. Carlos will follow the footsteps of his father and after the war decided that its scope is definitely the literature and the Nautical School. Charles wrote at the time his father: "Poor me, / always so quiet, / so thoughtful, / so sad and pale. / / (...) You will be poet / illustrious poet, / will be my magnum opus ... / and my best Laura! ". And it was.
The child who arrived from Cadiz to Madrid with her paternal fantasies and his poetry was gradually entering the language and creating a world of its own, distinct and different from the rest. But above all, a tradition that came after him, a great historical tradition: modernism, creator par excellence of two concepts: the music and language. Something that certainly was not foreign to the genius of Ory. Chicharro said of him who taught him to hate Lorca (Lorca even write the essay in 1967, in Paris, published by Éditions Universitaires) and everything that reeks of gypsy Spain, to rhetoric, rot, a whorehouse and English came from Maeztu, Zunzunegui and D'Ors, and introduced him to Dadaism, Futurism and Surrealism. All this in 44. Somehow along Chicharro Ory, etc. English embodies that spirit that comes from Ramon Gomez de la Serna and enters in Spain in the fifties and sixties with authors like Cirlot and Miguel Labordeta. But there, there is a big difference Cirlot, as he followed the path abstraction, followed Ory life.
His poetry, therefore, is born free of emotion and musicality, one of the first requirements of any major poet. The technique will emerge from the need to express music. His friend Eduardo Chicharro say of him: "I never saw a man so devilishly able to play with the most unexpected and valuable musical range as the Castilian language can wish for." And when he discovered one night in the cafe Pombo his figure clueless and out of place said: "This is a poet." He was a poet who was amazed by the reality and sought to forge in their mind and in his poetry as a language and as life in a ceremony in which they are not absent as laughter or pain, but always led by an irresistible desire to create and in permanent conflict with the play of antithetical and assimilation in the poem of the antagonistic. His vision of the radical poetic expressed in his Journal (1944-1956) when he said: "I start from the Germanic Romanticism and universal. Theoretical idea of free-spirited and active. The desire of the infinite and eternal Sehnsucht (desire). Of eternal love and eternal love instability of earthly life. Leopardi, Novalis also. My poetry of the human man. Of nostalgia and anguish, and aspires to be heard by God. I'm all longing, loving intelligence. All Baudelaire's tenderness, all her sensuality. "
His conception of reality since then questions the model that was created around it: the reality was what he wanted to go and ultimately, a permanent strategy of questioning it. Freedom and its exercise of language make his real creation that is always born of music. In his "Sonnet paranoid" expresses a vision of that reality: "Only half the world with my ear / and a cut flower in the face / deep bass to the diamond mine / that has no root or fence. / / More I hate dim as bee / herd of some elf necromancer / peinaré Mount my back lover / and stool clamshell. " And in a letter he wrote to the poet García Nieto in his forties, before the poet's claim Oviedo it was a genius, she replied: "We're only two poets in the world."
His poetry begins a new era in 1951 with the publication of the Manifesto Introrrealista, the Dominican painter Dario Suro, which claims an art as a manifestation of the inner reality of the mysterious man from states of consciousness. It is a more humanized approach to existential instances that had been in fashion then in the post-war Europe. It is a poetry that is to close next to an exterior reality. But it differs from realism in its individual component and introspective. In both realism intended to reflect external reality or outside, the introrrealismo expressed an awareness of things, the poet will be the architect of the merger between life and poetry. Hence to say that it tended to sink in vivo. As recalled in Our Time: Poems (1951), focuses on the neurosis of the dark and mysterious and ordinary daily life, but beware, no matter the evidence, as all poetry is dark in its own plan. His poetry introrrealista will be characterized by which "combines intimately transfiguration magic idealism and the fulfillment of sensual things. " Also of fifty years of seething intrareralismo are his books of tales El Bosque (1954) and Kikiriquí-Mango. Gijón
lived in show business after the war and was associated with consecrated Creative Youth, of which, however, said laughing. I even wrote on the third page of ABC. Since then you have good reception in magazines like Platero, Garcilaso, English Poetry, Hispanic American Notebooks, Snail, papers are Armadans, Index, or more rarely La Estafeta Literaria.
In 1955 he moved to Paris, where he lived until 1967, when he moved to Amiens after her divorce and there founded L'Atelier de la Poésie Ouverte which shall include as a section of the disclosure by the Maison de la Culture where he will work since then as a librarian. Has forty-four years. From 1962 is his first Aérolithes, new expression of his work ever closer to philosophy. However, his first book just hit bookstores in 1963, thanks to José Luis Prado, and Luis López Anglada. After you publish Luis Jiménez Martos in Adonais. In the year 1963 published The Sonnets and testing Camus or atheism in extremis. And in 1964 the book of accounts A display dangerous.
In Barcelona and in 1970 it was a memorable edition of his work in the care of the poet Félix Grande, Poetry 1945-1969. It is the first recognition of his work and begins to have growing interest. Later, throughout this decade and the eighties, will publish his novel Diary of a Madman (1973), which was considered a rite of passage intellectual and writer. The Swedish poet and critic Lasse Söderberg said of him following the publication of his narrative that many critics have compared to Kafka: "As the Czech author describes a symbolic world and expresses his dreams of the simplest and their most secret desires ". No But his narrative has not been studied, although his poetry. Toro-Women In Chicago Section provided what their aesthetic criteria in the field of narrative pospista and stated that the poetic and narrative fiction characters, actions and imaginary worlds is the oldest art and reaffirmed the important thing is that the characters Life and developments have created themselves, to speak and demonstrate his spiritual states and dying, at last, if that is your destination. José Luis Calvo said that Ory narratives consist of stretching to the absurd situation or anecdote "is not stigmatized" by the topic, ie rescue of life anonymous daily. But the dreamlike atmosphere He notes this in his stories that married into their world with Kafka. Music in poetry published
Wolf (1970), Technical and tears (1971), Poems 1944 (1973), Lee without fear (1976), Metanoia (1978), Energeia (1978), prohibited Flute (1979), Miserable tenderness. Shack (1981), Sonnet Live (1988). His poetry will become known to a small area of people, but will not then or now to be a popular poet.
Since then, no longer make compliments about his writing. Not since the early García Nieto. Nor should we forget that of Camilo Jose Cela praising him as the best poet of Spain or the world but this one of Pere Gimferrer who called it a prodigious poet and added: "One of the great contemporary English poets. Perhaps his residence abroad much of his life and because, first, ahead of his time and then took place outside of certain prevailing currents, never ran out of justice. But a poet is quite remarkable for its prodigious inventiveness of word and image and the mixture of metaphysical transcendence and a sense of humor " .
Among his latest works are melancholy Melos (1999) and Wolf Music. Collection of poems (2003). And one of the most enlightening was Journal (1944-2000), has been published in several installments, a unique aphoristic line similar to meteorites. It records the wounds of time and the rigors of living.
We are witnessing, therefore, one of the great writers of today who has left us and in which there was, as I said Rafael de Cózar, throughout his life a process in which acquired the awareness that the key the art was not so much in the poems as personal revolution that motivated them, not in the particular discourse in the attitudes. And so the language was experimenting with the alchemy of the materials of life.

Some
poems in this book:
CONSISTENCY OF THE NIGHT

this decline was always united us as a caress
leaving human
profile. Decline in its shadow.
A sunset with words
walls that are entangled with the consistency
night. With brigands and belly dancers. Small betrayals

lights and the moon with his memories of mystery words
to wet. Just darkness.

Or maybe the wind with its tumult.

Now that we live
slows and nobody expected us to enter the harbor with their vocation
nap, I sacrifice my commitment

clarities and remember you on the edge of a flight,
as the first day we reveal . END OF SPRING

was just a man with the noise of the world. Women
hosted by the brightness of the shots.

And then the gap grows between the sand
as passion.

The world was calm and silent
home. Evening came, and God was not to press
lute
of his music. Only the man in shadow. We knew

be perfect with death,
give wings to the darkness and into the air.

Invisible Women and men dead.

the world is saying goodbye and tumult. Without the mercy
molding
hate whistling. And the earth being stone.

No strings guitars.
hands beings to wield great
dirt chords and disappointment.

The world was calm and silent
house, but the man moved
the stars and the garden with doves
was hesitant night owl.

Thank You Program Wording

See WARS OF ANDREW ARTEMISA MORALES FOR LOMAS

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2 THIS DAY IN THE LIBRARY MALAGA TO LIGHT 20.00 H. ACCOMPANIED BY THE AUTHOR AND EDITOR OWN EDUARDO MORENO.

Eduardo Moreno, Andrés Sorel and Lomas Morales (Malaga, Lights Bookstore, 12/02/2010)

We are witnessing a work of epic and features monumental. So it is with the novels in which the causes of war and breed peoples characters reach a height of impudence view or historical. Since the run
Andrés Sorel want to make it very clear to the reader who the protagonists of the work and what scaffolding holds the creative act. And in the same preface there is a warning about the protagonists of this novel are nothing more than the Cuban people, the writer and military Ciges Manuel Aparicio and English troops in Cuba led by General Valeriano Weyler, in a time frame, basically decline of the nineteenth century, which in the last chapter has ramifications around late July 1936 that have profound value and auction allegorical novel cycle. Traditionally been understood
sunset deadline of Spain from the moment you lose the war in Cuba from an initial course that begins in the seventeenth century. The generation of 98, which belongs Ciges Aparicio, was responsible for raising the flag of the English decline. What has not been adequately explained, or at least, there are references vacuous in the population, is the sheer cruelty and outrage with which the English acted in Cuba. Especially the wealthy English and Creole Hispanicized loyal to the Crown on whose shoulders fall the historic responsibility for their racist and exploitative, particularly if we consider that Cuba was the last to abolish slavery and black Cubans being descendants of slaves are hated by them and feel their absolute contempt for the rebel leaders.
Andrés Sorel, through wars of Artemis (El Olivo Azul, Córdoba, 2010, 287 pp.) Delves into this wound and get to dig into the territory of promiscuity and the absurd despotic cruelty. Artemis is the symbol, a place to identify a specific territory, the military capital of Pinar del Rio who was under the power of a close friend Weyler, General Arolas, and, by extension, must be identified with all of Cuba. But there is something that goes beyond the anecdotal, or semiology would say, the arguments of specific events around Cuba, is the fact that the allegory of Artemis not completed a period but, in some Thus, finally starts and ends in the military coup of Franco and, under the cruelty of history, the English we anticipate the creation of the Nazi camps forty years before the Germans with the star of a English military, Valeriano Weyler.
The novel has a will of coral structure in which many voices participate in the storytelling process. In fact, each chapter has a protagonist who is flying the course of the narrative in first person but it is stuffed full of constant interference of the third person omniscient. In some cases the very Weyler, Ciges Aparicio, Tula, Juan Vives ... So the story tries to introduce in this story line sound spectrum and a colorful imagination, although in the background (perhaps ideological thread or thesis of the writer) is maintained critical voice to the ominous mock the reader will to contemplate.
This structural framework is systematized into nine chapters bearing the following titles: 1. The old, 2. 1986. General Weyler, 3. 1986. Sergeant Manuel Aparicio Ciges 4. 1896. Captain Martínez Calonge 5. Tula Sage 6. Re-concentration and extermination; 7. Blindness 8. Last days of Artemis, and 9: 1936. The children of Weyler. If the first chapter shows the general Weyler ninety years, the absolute decrepitude, talking to ghosts, chapters two through eight mana the leadership of Cuba and the "heroes" of the story, to reach the last chapter that represents a time shift dramatic, as in the previous action Set in the year 1897 and now we are in 1936. Each chapter focuses on the essence of a character and his world or in a place or situation, but all characters are interspersed with its density, its ideas and its torrential creator.
What happens to the writer has intended to leave the final chapter as a single element, like a brooch literary, perhaps as a requiem? Itself will mean a circularity. I think there is a thesis clarifying Andres Sorel, a choice that no one can ignore: the idea that historical perversions are reproduced over time and eventually become recurrent because of its ability to maintain and deploy when conditions you are right historical. Weyler is the symbol of a Spain shocking that in the last chapter (hence the title of "Children of Weyler") took the lead again for the sake of the Falange and the military coup of General Franco. Although Weyler dies October 20, 1930, are figuratively "their children," the coup of 36, the authors of the death of Ciges Aparicio, civil governor of Avila for the Republic and shot when the rebels are made to control city. If Ciges Aparicio survived Weyler, not get get away from "political-military children." And so, say the third-person narrator: "Immediately, a face associated with those younger than she looked with contempt and hatred: that of Valeriano Weyler. Were their descendants. Damn story again in Spain. The general had been dead for six years and it was reincarnated murderers "(p. 273).
But is the voice of Ciges Aparicio, true protagonist of the play, whose ideas

Lights bookstore owner, Eduardo Moreno, Andrés Sorel and Lomas Morales (Malaga 12/02/2010)

Andrés Sorel is the debtor, who in chapter sings those last moments rearward of existence, he admits his humanity free, subject to the tyranny and the discipline and its anti-militarist ideas that saw him forced out twice exile: "All soldiers are equal. Spain has no remedy. Inquisition is meat. Priests, soldiers and Marquises "(p. 278). But earlier, in chapter three had said talk of the barracks: "They looked, in its pure essence, ineffective military brutality by only cared about the troops abusing, enslaving and using soldiers as servants at your service and whatever they could scavenge from the quartermaster "(p. 73). And when you have to shoot you in your imagination mixing times experienced in the past and present, near and the firing squad, and says: "Here there is no Weyler. He has been General Franco. I fall into error. " It is through your dreams when, as in a cloud of Spain as sad and tragic, these events are mixed past and present seamlessly creating a uniform magma and sorrowful. Through his words, his actions, there is a power game and a fierce critique against the dictatorship and against the monster breeding has been historically.
exists in the work of Andrés Sorel a deep work of the reader, data collector and historical events, but we can not forget that we are dealing with a fictional creation but the story is true truffle of those events that are held in the obstinacy of the actual data and irrefutable.
The beginning of the novel is dark and desolate interior that we announce where we will introduce gradually. And there is the emblem of ambition and betrayal in the image of the Macbeth of Shakespeare quote: "POWER OFF, short calls him" The General has completed ninety years old and can not sleep. The nightmare takes over his mind and, as Ciges in the last chapter, confusing reality with dreams and wonders whether there really that time. One is in the prologue of death does not get abandoned by their children, at the height of decrepitude: a soldier in His Labyrinth, very close to similar characters has left the English American narrative, dictators, murderous. I could not help remembering the death of Artemio Cruz by Carlos Fuentes. But the image we projected Andrés Sorel, there is also a lot of grotesque valleinclanesco of Mardi Gras, in that ridiculous picture of the general and his cornet, a general who believes betrayed him, like Macbeth. As the narrative progresses and as he is the protagonist, black blade, neo-expressionist elements take over their face, of his own life to mess with his life and deeds this story. There is a critical angry and bitter the narrator introduces a character so angry he does not know who mourn and describes the general himself in this manner: "Ugly, asymmetrical (1.60 meters tall), maybe I took my mother's womb early, so I was born sickly. It took me grow, and despite my efforts I could never entirely "(p. 22). And, as Macbeth (with which you are the paragon literary) is haunted by the ghosts of his past: "I was brave at the time of killing others and show me now powerless to take my life to myself" ( p. 21). Believing and instigator of the death ("I just believe in death", p. 23, as Millan-Astray, your child's allegorical "Long live death!"), is transformed from the beginning in a repulsive character who likes the strong smell of urine acid, capable of a life of deception and loyalty to the death. General etopeya arises friend toughness and violence, unable to awaken any affection, sober, no drinking, no smoking and rarely struck up a conversation with someone and who is always compared with that Macbeth bloodthirsty, lustful, greedy, perfidious, liar and violent. That allowed his soldiers to steal, rape, kill ... and that, as stated in the story, well what was taught the rule to destroy the Cuban side, "Arson, ravage villages, do not prisoners, do not store any consideration to the elderly, women or children. License to kill, rape, nobody is going to demand an explanation "(p. 58).
There is a grim philosophy to be discovered as you go

Andrés Sorel

the story and acts as a deterrent to any reader who might have some kind of whims. No doubt for the narrator and his view seeks to create an abject image of the military. The second chapter is a compendium to create a devastating portrait of this character who was ousted by the terrible events fluently discussed the character of General Piedelobo assertion: "In the army, and talks to someone who has more than thirty years there, learned men have no place, and less on the war, hates and despises the time. Weyler, if I could kill them all "(pp. 64-65). An icon will be gradually expanded through statements sevincorporan the story characters, as writer-military Ciges Aparicio, who said about him: "Weyler is just a murderer without conscience of evil" (p. 82). A counterpoint his image will basically transmitting the fourth chapter Captain Martínez Calonge, who would direct relations with the general and journalist Eva Canel, whose adoration it was evident. In this chapter say about gays and people: "People are corrupted and lost when feminized and relax in its natural destiny, not a discipline. Homosexuals, for example, are not men, but patients who weaken the race and lead to defeat "(p. 110).
Soon, however, raises the other characters that gradually will take over the story, going on at certain times Weyler to the background, it is Ciges Aparicio and Juan Vives ... but also the journalist Eva Canel, dedicated to the cause Weyler, Gonzalez Arocha (Maceo), the Cuban revolutionary, Tula (supporting the troops of Maceo in Artemis) ...
Sergeant Ciges Aparicio is the soul and critical humanitarian story from chapter three. Be defined by the revolutionary Tula as "shy but good, as few men have known in my life" (p. 260). Myopic, black clothes lover, no father, oblivious to the discipline and religion, violence is repugnant and is afraid of women, but, however, is not of punishment but obsessed with living forever, and entered the army as a way to abandon its ill-fated home, alone, clinging to literature as a lifeline. Through the first person Ciges talks about his feelings and his life, items with those who worked in the press, and is a process of falling in love the character that is parallel to transmitting the writer who is recognized and rewarded in their attitude and views. As you lose the shadow that has engendered the general Weyler, Ciges becomes normal in the real hero of the people, the committed intellectual who from within upbraideth and repudiates all its forces to the military. A frequently accompanies Ciges Juan Vives, whose ideas are put into discussion more often in the story and create a condensation of thought of both. Of them will be deducted progressively Ciges personality, the true protagonist of the work in the more suggestive. He tells Juan Aparicio: "Your default Ciges, is that still accept moral laws when there is moral "(p. 88). But Ciges Aparicio is the awareness of what is happening in Cuba. A man who is moved over the suffering of others than with his own and finally locked up when they discover he has written an article addressed to the French newspaper L'Intransigeant which criticizes the behavior of the English army in Cuba. But a writer who had a deep love of literature to identifying with life. Arrested on January 6, 1897, was sentenced twenty-eight months and one day in prison for insulting the military.
Tula's history, from the fifth chapter is of great importance, because through it offers a view from the other end, from the persecuted people and raped and decimated, a woman of character that comes into the cause of revolution and liberation of the Cuban people, but will be related to certain military, especially Ciges Aparicio to hold talks with it fairly and with Juan Vives. And as sexual symbols and their love story compensates moments of cruelty in the story. Has sometimes been seen as the child of the Sonata Chole summer of Valle-Inclan, a woman who goes beyond the limits of sensuality and eroticism. But it is also consistent but feisty woman who embodies the values of a people fighting for their freedom. Also embodies the character that analyzes the politico-social situation of their country and explains the causes of their poverty and lack of freedom.
From a certain point, lost the life of General Weyler, the story thickens short stories, in interpolations and enrich secondary situations and stories appear Narciso López, Abel Borrego, Father Arocha
But the novel ... , which participates in the historical, psychological, social ... also offers moments where the action takes over the story and the scenes of war and attacks multiply in the seventh chapter. No time for relaxation because the narrative tempo gets its expected effect and the transition from one situation to another always have the interest to his narrative manages to give strength to the story Sorel.
A work in which ideas do not drown the narrative but contend the ultimate meaning of history to reach, as we have said, an epic account. Watertight compartments of the structure are diluted when the characters are intertwined in the course of these situations and assimilated into each other creating perfect communicating vessels.
In short, Sorel to get Artemis wars show a dark period of our history in Cuba and we relive an era, but also takes us into the mind of a character, Ciges Aparicio, whose ideas of humanity and solidarity principles also are claimed as immanent in the history of Spain.

I consider it a storyteller of great value and one of the creators of inspiring and engaging worlds in a line can Paul Auster connect or E Vila-Matas, although it is "touched" of territory and a staff clearly likes and dislikes that are supported on the scaffolding near Dodge and imperfect world, decimated in constant anxiety and creation. His teacher is Kafka, among others. Link

Garriga Vela's narrative, Muntaner 38 by Lomas Morales

editorial
Debate in 1996 published a novel, Muntaner 38, José Antonio Garriga Vela, which consider the basis of his later fiction. Was preceded by the award of Jaén Novel, which had granted a jury Caballero Bonald, Ignacio Echevarría, Antonio Soler, Manuel Bértolo Longares and Constantine. In Muntaner 38
displayed the keys of a narrative that is held on the Dodge short on sentence construction, ingenuity in creating phrases that remain in the history of literature (in his works in general a clear appreciation of insightful statements that focus on two or three lines of thought as axiomatic), in the faint development of many characters that come and go again and again involving the reader and cuddling with their ephemeral situations, with its fragments subtle and suggestive. Through the distant perspective sometimes the glass: "That's how I've always preferred to see things. In a cold, distant and accurate, with the look of glass "(p. 14). And above all, in the immediacy of a world, in building interiors to justify existence. Worlds coming and going from past to present (in that game and prolepsis analepsis), creating a closed circle. If their world are also its narrative, which pivots on an axis always very specific. Here crankshaft serves Muntaner 38.
Since Aristotle we know that one thing is quite another story and discourse or argument. Muntaner's speech 38 is organized around a system of accumulation of short situations over an indefinite period running from the author's childhood to dates after the death of his father. Is ample time (about twenty years ago) in which the events, disorganized, are accommodated by a process of assimilation significantly depending on the criteria of the author. The story would be well less relevant than the speech. A speech that in its essence as semiotics would say, also revolves around the character of his father, the tailor, the epicenter of the novel construction, but also about the speed adventure narrative and scenes-short sequence ( "bursts" the narrator tell the story at a time) that enable a shift from one world to another, a family room to another, from one character to another so swiftly. More than the reality that is focused, the narrator is interested in showing a vision of a world, an understanding of a world. And these cumulative processes is organized. This is the victory of the secondary characters. Are those who achieve mastery of the work, although Cristina Moslares, the father and the narrator their most consistent players, at last, the players that determine which closed around them the circle of creation. The literary work has its own laws organizing a world. Garriga Vela is a very precise laws:
Space: Muntaner 38, Barcelona center, near Avenida Diagonal, scar city, the epicenter around which the fictional world tour. Artery but not only his own world, concrete and reduced where being in the world and include it in its concreteness and arbitrariness, on reduction, in its capacity as the epicenter.
Two main characters:
a) Vela Garriga's father, the tailor, as a character embracing the existence of the novel and the author himself. A character (like Kant that compares literary) that does not leave his own world (Kant built his philosophy without leaving Königsberg, Garriga's father built creating costumes-that is, cutting their world-the philosophy of its existence and daily practice), Muntaner 38 and her workshop. A sewing shop that is also the creative shaping metaphor because as they said, "We are in the hands of a few tailors who merely identify and cut our lives" (p. 159). The indeterminacy of existence and the absolute lack of freedom to be what we want to be is that cutting of the fabric of our very existence. A symbol, creating clothes, as the creation of worlds that inhabit a galleon adrift, as the narrator say that he did not want to leave, even if he does his father. With its philosophy of life differs so much that at one point given the narrator say, "My father raised me to live in a world he resigned. I spent a suit that he was too small and uncomfortable. Kept to himself ideals. They knew they were losing battles (...) Who was it really? I've often wondered why I came to hate him so far as to wish his death. Miguel Bobadilla said I was a victim of the ideals of my father. That non-healing wound caused him to me. It may be true. Either way was a person too hard. I did not ignore their recommendations, but rather the opposite (...) I was the serpent's egg. I guess that wars arise civilians. Perhaps there lay the embryo of hatred. To the light of the experience of my father I rebelled against those who destroyed it. I chose another route. Although in the end, both lost the same battle against our own contradictions (p. 160). Being a tailor forms a precise symbolic value in the novel in that capacity tailor creative with his scissors on fabric create a model, the theoretical model that seeks to create for others, though his remains hidden. Hence the organization of a world that is unwilling to live the character who has a slight analogy to Kafka, who, incidentally, admires Garriga Vela. Right from the start, however, emerging ghosts sent by his father: "I willed the bitterness, it is true, and also a world inhabited by ghosts" (p. 70). But his father lives a reverse process to you, while going towards children as a way of being left alone, the narrator flees Garriga it as a way of growing. His father usually said: "In childhood we live, then survives" (p. 58). Garriga wants to grow but it is as if space, Muntaner 38, the time (dictatorship) and prevented the immanent philosophy.
The father, through its recurrent phrases are creating a metaphysics of existence, a way of seeing the world as axiomatic. Say, inter alia: "In life you never know what can happen" (p. 43), "The world is round and that will not wake up in the background" (p. 43). But what also exists is a cutting work moralizing tendency to the formation of the spirit that comes from various reasons which will put into the mouth of his father and allow personal growth or not. For example, when he told his father that "there wherever you go, drag obsessions. "Running away does not help, we must face up to life". "(P. 149). And Muntaner 38 is the magma of obsessions, a magma of a sad sad time.
b) Cristina Moslares as a symbol of eroticism Search of artificial paradises (to the pursuit of fear of failure) and growth in dreams. Dreams that will depend a lot of faith in their achievement, as claimed by his father who after acknowledging that it was all a matter of size emphasized that "the extent of dreams depended on the faith that get put in" (p. 142). At another point, when Cristina returns from America as conqueror of the dream that had haunted all say strict: "America is different" (p. 89) A different country compared to ours where nothing ever happened, although different in fascist propaganda . And in this sense, the characters have a need to go out, find somewhere to rot there ("Who was the city was rotten. The whole country, p. 118). Dreams that always end up frustrated in the narrative of Garriga Vela. The narrator knows, as he said at the end of the work, it will not "nowhere." At first dreamed of America (the predominant theme of a personal dream was very common in young people of that time, America was the end of a tunnel. All good things came from America. For example, it was common to hear, this is very good, it that is American. America comes with the power of a dream. Moslares Cristina also goes to America). But Cristina Moslares above all is the passion and eroticism, an incentive to live, but knew he was a toy in his hands and was always she who had "Kristin had made the wish on a rope around my neck in the dark" (p. 100).
Muntaner 38 is divided into eight chapters, each with an exact name (I) The look of glass, (ii) When the world goes, (III) timeout, (IV) The quiet of the holidays, ( V) The silhouette of chalk, (VI) Wait on the Moon (it expressly written in italics), (VII) happy and (VIII) The fourth of the press. Of these, the first two and the eighth is the largest in number and the last page, which acts as an epilogue, is the shortest, with the sixth. But what meaning has this precise structure in his work when everything is a cluster of characters who come and go like a mousetrap, Muntaner 38. Let go gradually discovering. Initially (first chapter) is the projection of the overall image that sums up his characters space and moving with the same palette (the narrator is an amateur painter) that makes up your pictures with impressionistic strokes of color, even the palette of chiaroscuro. If until the fourth chapter, the protagonist's father has an all-embracing space, will be from the fifth time of institution in the work a kind of love story between the narrator and Cristina Moslares, wishes and feelings.
the author starts the novel Catalan with a first sentence that frames a dream, the dream of America: "I've never been to America" (p. 7). A startup that takes us into the construction of a world, while he, a boy, color maps and his father with the chalk mark the outline of the patterns, in a manner similar to their own maps or your own world. Both begin to develop, as a microcosm. A world that, as we shall see at the end of the novel, does not lead to nowhere, a truncated world without perspective: "The image of the enchanted petered out in the distance. Like the colors of the maps, the names of employers, clouded eyes of the telescope "(p. 171). Garriga Vela has built a world circular, around a symbolic accurate picture: coloring his maps and the father, lathering contours, silhouettes. But everything falls apart and ends up becoming a "sad story", an allegory of the defeat. There is a limited microcosm
(Muntaner 38) and a dream in the novel progresses but ends up being cut off: "The limits of the world is restricted to the sidewalk outside around the block" (p. 7). A space for his father has the value of the metaphoric-symbolic "My father said that the balcony of our house was like America, and the street was the rest of the world" (p. 11). The view from above, from the strength to govern everything. But the vision does not give life but creating false perspectives. A distortion of this telescope with which he watched from the Tibidabo and Montjuic. But the narrator
colors only countries known for the colors but by recognizing the things he is in a process of construction, initiatory path of discovery of a reality that does not stop at anything: "Life was a blank map where I was recognizing the names of things "(p. 46). So "every citizen is a country. Each family, one world "(p. 47) And so the narrator is aware that to build your fictional world is like build a map that will never end. Maps are never finished. And that process is organized through the list of events ranging from their family environment (especially focused on the father figure, the reflections on the mother are tenuous, subtle, with a muffled mystery ("My mother dreams of a kept secret past, p. 79) or clearly ironic, as when he says: "My mother was always a bit morbid. I read magazines of events. I heard in the radio programs where people sought public responses to private affairs," p. 155). Crowd
characters come and go just stitched, hand with pins and tailor's brief and synthetic adventures ending in the story: his childhood games ("a childhood gray), the space sector's own block and the neighbors who live in it, as Don Esteban, the lord of the blind (which smelt numbers): "I smell to the future" (p. 11), he said, his uncle John who took him to Tibidabo, the friend of his father, Alfonso red (one of the secondary characters more attractive) who did everything to the left, the neighbor of the second, the taxidermist Matthias (who could pass for a grotesque character or berlanguiano) Kim'sy club Margarita Price evenings of boxing matches with the character Caraplato; the Mercedes ironers and Teresa, her sisters, the family Amat and Elvira, the woman's doctor, Violet, which was platonic love, the family Guijarro ; Díaz del Camino Professor Training National Spirit, Angel Moslares, the photographer, the Kawolinski Polish family, the priest Antonio María Claret and his love for him, his touching (never goes into the rough, but he suggests), Carlos, dart shooter, Carmen and her four children, their grandparents, Mr. Rico and his family ... They all contribute to create human geography if your father and he tried organized by colors and soap physical geography, the pattern of existence.
But there is also thinking of building their own character through their world and their own psychology, her shyness, for example: "When I came home visits hiding under the dining table." Or the school that connected him with the smell of shit or vision that others had on him, nicknamed The Boon. And above all, projecting a kind of image accompanying evil of a fatality states: "My mother said to the friends that I was not bad, but had bad luck" (p. 20).
There is an obsession with time. Marked by the date of 20 November, where he was born, also in the works operate these dates, the 20N associated with tragic elements or chronologies of historical roots as the death of Franco, the death of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, Buenaventura Durruti ..., hence the father said he had been born the day of the dead. Also the dates are crucial from the outset in the novel Pacific. A time and season, an area bordering the sadness and melancholy that emerges in this novel of personal and family memory where reality and fiction, as is usual in his narrative since then pretend to be unique and unique, take on again and the likelihood or the lie that makes it timeless.
In short, a good novel tells of a conquered world and reproduced, it could be for the imagination, as the opening words of the protagonist, but that remains to nihilism and in the past: "There were only traces of ash that wind pushing the sea. "

MEMORY OF THE STORM BY MANUEL GARRIDO MORALES PALACIOS

Memory of storm, Calima Ediciones, Palma de Mallorca, 2010, 174 pp.

Garrido Palacios is a solid storyteller huelveño which should talk more but for reasons not ignore bad enough, although it has proven a work of literary quality.
From a solid background in filmmaking has devoted his activity as a screenwriter and television director (NKD Japan, WDR Germany, TVE Spain). Among his television series there is a clear importance of the popular basis "Roots", "All Games", "The mobile dune," "The Sacred Wood," "La Primavera en Doñana", "traits" were recognized at the time with different national and international awards in "Memory of the storms," the field of reflection is rural Spain, backward poor and uneducated.
With his first book, "The rim", published in 1964, beginning a long literary career, which has earned a long list of awards, including the award Borges and the Golden Harp (Ireland) ... is a contributor to several publications and the online magazine Literary Paper (Malaga) with brainy literary analysis. He is also member of the American Academy of English Language in New York and the jury's International Film Festival Glaway, and Latin American Film Festival of Huelva.
Memory of storm "belongs next to" abandon "and" Rain Maker "of" Trilogy of Rust. " At times, reading this novel, I have come to the memory of Baralla Castroforte, home and soul of "The saga / drain JB" de Torrente Ballester (which these days is to return to the present, one of our strongest storytellers of all times), "You will return to Region of Juan Benet (another important writer and forgotten) and" CELAM "of our beloved Luis Mateo Díez, but also Camilo José Cela in the wit of the narrative and the ease of composition. "Memories of the storm" is even reminiscent of rural areas has created so extraordinary that Latin American literature through the work of great Rulfo, Borges, Vargas Llosa, the García Márquez ... Palacios Garrido
this work falls to the memory through an old woman of about one hundred years, Dona sweetness, which is shaping the history of Rust and personal history, a kind of new Ursula Iguarán (the magical character of "One Hundred Years of Solitude "), ethereal and ghostly, which has enormous strength and personal and literary creation itself, despite the recollections is offered.
Through the narrative outline of the story told to a "gentleman" who comes to town, the voice of the character homodiegetic is present and has from the first person through the interior monologue and their experiences, their feelings and disappointments with the world and its inhabitants: "I do not want to tire the gentleman. I told this so many times that I've become the story itself. You see I'm going on my memories of my memories through my memories "(p. 21). At another point you insist on your receiver: "I tell you what little I know, three crumbs, what can we learn from each other?" (P. 120). We are witnessing the oral narrative memory built in small strokes, and sweetness with his mind, his wit and sadness that is enveloping us in this amazing air formed by the lines sour (as its name) of existence: Ah, my head is a bag of stories in which I put my hand and pulled shreds "(p. 34). Although in reality, we might consider an intermediary Bonaparte's grandmother, who was the one that told these stories after taking a long sip brandy. A tribute to the memory, says that as sweetness can not be gagged or be grass of oblivion. But apart from the rich anecdotes that the reader is riddled with ghosts and magical beings, the story of sweetness can get into a philosophy of life, in a quasi-moral model, if you ask me, deeply human, where he spent his life always pleasing to others but be pleased. Spain
A bizarre backward, multiple, variegated and plural forms this bittersweet work in which the black palette is very present, a color that has been integral to our history as a people. Goya never made a mistake with his pictures of Alley Cat and also with Don Valley Latino Híspalis and Max Estrella. A distorted mirror Spain and characters on the edge of absurdity or grotesque and properly. And the greater absurdity arises in a state of war, "Take a shotgun and hit shots. Against what? You pull in that direction and do not ask (...) are hidden behind the bad, the enemy. Whichever is the enemy "(p. 31).
sweetness, twenty years, goes to the seminary in the capital, where he will work in a tavern, leaving Rust, his people, that sweetness as someone had said that there was on the map. But the infatuated was short and soon marries another. Gone are interspersed stories like the relative Onofre, or cats that hunted Onesimus hunger Teresona history, political Donglorio (about which he constantly ridicules), the story of squeamishness that has brought back to the schedules and the spirit of English picaresque narrative. In fact on page sixty-two is an explicit reference to works like "Lazarillo de Tormes" and "Alfarache Guzman, and that text, almost word for word is the" Hymnal "common memory presiding as beings who asked to vouch for the existence of people and always accompanying sweetness.
Manuel Garrido Palacios
love The smell of the donkey Uncle Livio Mica, which we in for a rough and sad human geography around a misunderstood sexuality, not to mention the lad Rust that "it was skill in masturbating boys, coming to do two different straws while quite art "(p. 40). And then comes a clear evocation of the novel "Mazurka for two dead" Cela which won the National Award for Fiction. Sex and hunger as elements that transcend the narrative discourse of sweetness and us into an imaginary group.
One such story is that of Rufina, who cut off the penis of her lover, and when it did, said, "the comedy is over" (p. 81). O Contrera history that was dedicated to teaching her panties to Cuartoquilo telling for what they served: "The panties are used to save the pussy" (p. 83). The symbolic value of all these stories that emerge as a sepia image of time, in a country, in a situation dominated by an absurd and bloody repression in all areas of daily life. It also has the wit and the story of Onesimus succulence, which was about a traveling books, Fructuoso, who was greatly respected in the village by way of pronouncing the names of the authors of books, among those recommended were those of a certain Somersemogan (William Somerset Maugham, the story writer, English novelist and playwright of the mid-XX) and Masensevadermé (Maxence Van der Meersch, the French writer, author of Bodies and Souls). And when Onesimus became pregnant, he said, "Look, let impregnate! She replied: It is an Englishman. " And anecdotal stories that make a human landscape, a world, a belief and above all a philosophy of life that shows the backwardness and ignorance of a people: "In no listura Rust. Culture meant, but he left listura "(p. 106). A Spain takes in which the children came to school a short time because soon put them to care for cattle, although it would be after his teacher Nature. This image also creates an atmosphere of manners to which we employed the novel and the incidence shows a spirit of defilement and time where sex was a direct part of their lives permanently. And in that satisfaction with the elements of the culture of the people, one of the chapters, pp. 120-127 is focused on the analysis of language. And among other things says: "Grandma Bonaparte could not bear we said ment instead of fart (...) Peo and fart smell the same, but they have distinction (...) You know, you pronounce the jigo is barbaric (...) we do not war with a letter, which in one way or another what I'm saying is that I am up to fuck (...) had to say cataplines by balls (...) In the tavern of Matthew learned what cuts the soul a look and also new words. " We believe that this area is also present in the spirit of Camilo Jose Cela in the wit, the sarcasm, distorted construction of the characters and the degradation of a backward society with only small traces significant.
But of course, something always in the villages is quite recurrent transcendence the passage of time, the relationship with silence and the difference of it with the capital since the changes came only after years of it, news that there had been a long time were taken as a novelty after the flight and a place everyone hated when in fact they hated was a time, a way of life, a thought that is organized through a random presence of short stories and poems that help to understand the underlying philosophy, like this: "What a weird town, / so strange it, / the sun rises in the morning / afternoon and turns; / below each ceiling / one potajillo cooked / and bottom of each pot / Rust is a silent, / a Santro, a Carriponte / and a head Lajareque; / pots in the kitchen, with milk, milk, milk, milk. "
In this novel there are phrases for posterity and models: "More unites the love hunger" (p. 46); "We are lots of big nothing" (p. 65); "No need to put more music truth, then what emerges is the story of quince "(p. 78);" Love is a luxury nest hatred where love is lacking. I'd say love is a lurking hatred and hatred is a love trance "(p. 78);" Every woman was a world and every man a project "(p. 78):" Every day is a transition and that only live in the instant you perceive you live, that which is immeasurable because it seems eternal "(p. 79)," Now I know a pompous fool can be a mounted on a book "(p. 94) ... One of the most succulent is this: "One who was at death's door the priest offered to go to heaven and said this: Let's nonsense, as in my house I will not be anywhere." (p. 173).
In short, "Memories of the storm" is a novel that makes up his own world, Franco's Spain, a Spain backward and uneducated in which the characters wander around instincts and absurd situations. With skill, wit ease and creates a story entertaining but mostly makes up a time and way of being and being in the world.

LOMAS 'Between XX and XXI century. Andalusian poetry anthology (II) Lomas Morales, Moreno Ayora critical in Córdoba Journal

On Saturday October 30, 2010 Antonio Moreno Ayora published in Journal of South of Córdoba Journal a review of the book above. We reproduce below.

After the first published in 2007, now sees the light Between the second volume of the XX and XXI century. Andalusian poetry anthology, which gathers Lomas Morales Francisco-As in the previous ten names, others considered "authors necessary" and "an extensive work behind them. "anthologist is also intended to structure the work into two sections (anthology of poetry and biographies of the authors) that will refer to poets who were born or residing in the provinces of Malaga, Almeria, Granada and Jaen. And although Lomas Morales literally puts everyone in the pages of his introduction, also decided to incorporate in the anthology, selected verses preceding, a "poetic" signed by the author in question.
In this volume, each name is reserve about fifteen pages to accommodate his verses, the first being addressed to Luis García Montero, who sees "the poem as an appointment, a autonomous sometimes get together the loneliness of the writer and reader. "After the nine poems to be included, Granada is also Antonio Enrique who insists, as a prelude to his own, the importance of emotion for writing and the validity of some approaches that are explained at length that the aspiration "of the poet is to integrate the cosmos in the human dimension." And this idea of linking Enrique feeling and also in Nature late lyrical personality Aurora Luque that one of his poems he exclaims: "And why feel the air saturation / from other worlds, the trembling leaf / rain in the sun, the stars looking out / the light writing." Less clear more theoretical and literary skepticism, Domingo F. Faílde denies the poetic and transfer this critical role, sympathetic readers, who asks: "Look under the microscope the poems. / Descomponedle's heart tissue."
The poet Antonio Jiménez Millán notes that "care to find the tone and rhythm of a poem, defining a situation and make it intelligible, know what I am saying, and how," Rosa Romo will highlight points of interest view has been forged with successive books, whose pages the intensity of the emotion and look are so transferable. Attentive yet in this effort of "Watching / be seen" with that his latest composition titled Romo, the reader turns to the new record that is lyrical Alberto Torés, star of his swings of sadness and his relentless pursuit as he confirms by saying: "I was man without a country and I keep looking." And after these come the verses of Álvaro García, he listens to his performances to confront them with the texts as he anthology, mostly seized from his idea that in creating "The argument becomes poetry a movement that is not argumentative. [...] The great poetry does not hide or exacerbates previous experience: performs his power, to recreate not the fact, but the tremor I live ".
The anthology concludes, before finally closing it with the" Biography of the authors, "with José Sarria and Fernando de Villena. For the first poetry salvation means a vital and appears as an appoggiatura on" fair word, to check their own blood blood becomes verse, poem, entitled to redeem. "For the second, the collection of poetry comes from an inquiry into the depth of reality to" convey the emotion that shakes during their search. "Hopefully, finally, that this anthology do say to those who use what García Montero writes:" My passion for poetry is, above all, the passion of a reader which has moved many times with a book of poems in their hands. "
